Civil Air Patrol Joins Search for Missing Teens
Civil Air Patrol’s Hawaii Wing received a call at 4:05 p.m. Saturday from the U.S. Air Force’s Pacific Air Command to support U.S. Coast Guard District 14 in ongoing search and rescue efforts for two missing teenagers off the North Shore of Oahu.

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii– On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day in 2021, approximately 135 World War II veterans participated in the observance of the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. More than a thousand feet in the air recently, a trained pilot switched control of a Cessna to Timothy Shelton, a freshman at Campbell High School. Despite not being able to legally drive a car, Shelton found himself piloting an aircraft through open blue skies.

100 Year Celebration - Senior Member John Gleeson
(Wahiawa, Hawai’i) - On August 26, 2023, Mr. John Gleeson, a Senior Member of the Hawaii Wing Civil Air Patrol, celebrated his 100th birthday by soaring through the skies in a CAP Glider on August 26, 2023. As a WWII veteran and B-24 Bomber Pilot, Mr. Gleeson has devoted his life to serving his country through flight. His incredible accomplishment serves as proof that age is just a number. Training Hawaii's Next Generation of Emergency Pilots
(Honolulu, Hawai’i) - On August 30, 2023, Kala'i Miller host of "Home is Here" highlights the Hawaiʻi Wing Civil Air Patrol and states, "If I told you a 12-year-old could pilot a plane – you’d probably think I was crazy. But that’s exactly what the Civil Air Patrol does. It’s training the next generation of aviation enthusiasts, and here in Hawaiʻi, the Civil Air Patrol is also key in times of emergency."
Hawaii Wing Provides Airborne PSA to West Maui for a Second Day
(Maui, Hawai’i) On August 14, 2023, A Hawaii Wing aircrew broadcast a public service announcement this morning for a second day, informing listeners between the Lahaina and Kapalua areas of a subsequently changed distribution plan for those affected by the Maui wildfires. The announcement over the aircraft loudspeaker to residents in the affected areas heard, " Residents can now obtain food, water, and supplies at Lahaina Gateway."
