Welcome to the Cadet Programs "How to Join" page!

Open House

The cadet programs team on-boards new cadets 2-3 times a year via an open house event. This allows parents and cadets the opportunity to learn about our program and see if it something they are interested in trying out.

Cadet Great Start

Following the open house, new members are run through an 8-10 week training cohort we call "Cadet Great Start". These typically occur on Saturdays and Sundays, and last the whole day. Cadet Great Start shows new cadets everything they need to know about Civil Air Patrol and helps them complete their first promotion. The benefit of cadets going through this style of on-boarding is that they build friendships with other new cadets before they ever meet the more experienced cadets in the program.

After completion of Cadet Great Start, cadets are considered fully trained and can begin participating in all of the fun activities that happen throughout the year!
